The Bone Mother is out ☠️🖤

So just over two weeks ago, on May 7th my second novel in the Martha Strangeways Mysteries series The Bone Mother, was published.

It already feels like it’s been months as I’ve had a whirlwind of book events, book signings in shops around Scotland, meeting readers and reading reviews, which so far show that people seem to like the book! What a relief. This one took a while, for various reasons, to go from my brain to the published page, but readers generally seem pleased that Martha, my intrepid, feisty protagonist, has returned. She’s still determindly grounded in reality, despite the uncanny twists and turns which seem to chase her through Scotland’s mountains and forests.

I’ve loads more events to come, including a trip to Shetland, for their crime fiction festival in June, and that’s going to be a special one indeed. It’s weird to think I’m now the author of two books, and people are already asking about what happens to Martha next. For the minute that’s a mystery and I’m taking a wee brain break and working on something new which has been very exciting. All I’ll say is it’s ice cold and murderous, and I’m enjoying exploring new worlds and new words.

If you’re reading this and you’ve read either Crow Moon or The Bone Mother, reviewed the books, or come to festivals and events, I’m very grateful. Without readers, do stories even exist?
