Crime fiction goes to the seaside

In February, we took a trip back home to the North-east to attend a brilliant new crime fiction event organised by the duo who brought us so much fun with Virtual Noir at the Bar. Now working as Bay Tales, writers Vic Watson and Simon Bewick put together the first Bay Tales live event at Whitley Bay playhouse.

It featured an array of crime fiction authors with publisher-led panels, and the variety of authors appearing showed just how varied the genre and all its sub-genre offspring really is. With an opening address from Steph McGovern, the panels opened with a brilliant pairing of Ann Cleeves and Vaseem Khan, talking about their respective series, TV deals and a whole host of other stuff about being a writer.

Loads more info on the day on their website here https://baytales.com/ and I know we’re all hoping that since crime writers really do like to be beside the seaside, there’ll be another trip to the bay next year. Especially if they’ve got those #Vera cocktails!
