So the past few months since Crow Moon was launched have been an absolute whirlwind.
I’ve taken part in so many lovely events with readers, writers and book lovers that I’ve almost lost count. I’ve been signing books in bookshops, taken part in a lovely event with Stirling Libraries as part of their #OffThePage festival, done events at the brilliant Waterstones stores in Perth and Kirkcaldy and had a trip to London to be part of the debut quiz line-up at the wonderful Capital Crime https://www.capitalcrime.org/
Last Thursday, it was announced by by home festival https://bloodyscotland.com/ that I’d been shortlisted alongside another four smashing authors for the Bloody Scotland Debut Prize. And then today the news broke that Crow Moon was also in amongst a brilliant shortlist for the inaugural McDermid Debut Award at https://harrogateinternationalfestivals.com/crime-writing-festival/
To say I’m surprised is an understatement, but what an honour! There are so many brilliant new authors with books coming out this year, that to have Crow Moon on these lists is such a boost! And at two of my favourite festivals where I pitched the original idea for the book in 2019. It feels like some kind of crow magic to me. 🐦⬛💫🖤
Reviews continue to fly in and so many people are taking Martha on holiday or even giving the book as gifts, it’s been brilliant! Next up is an event with gorgeous Queen of Gothic Carolyn Jess Cooke, at The Book Nook in Stewarton, to help celebrate Independent Book Week on 19th June, the launch of Bloody Scotland on 20th June, in Stirling, when the wonderful Val McDermid will be speaking about her brilliant retelling of Queen Macbeth, and then Theakstons Crime Fiction Festival in July!
In August, I’m excited to be taking part in the fabulous festival Bute Noir https://butenoir.co.uk
Then to Moniack Mhor for a week to work on book two! Hoping to get a wee holiday in between, but wow what a run it’s been!
